With celebrities doing their bit to make a positive difference through their efforts during the pandemic, in alleviating human pain and suffering, actor Samreen Kaur focussed her attention on those who were silent sufferers. Those who could not voice their pain and suffering – animals!

With the National lockdown being imposed, followed by repeated lockdowns in various states, the plight of the animals on the streets was pitiable. They were left deprived of food, water and shelter. With restaurants, eateries and food stalls closed there was no source of food or left overs for the strays. Samreen was moved to see the cats and dogs on the streets in a state of utter neglect. It was then that she decided to take on the mantle of being a provider for the strays. She decided to start with her home town in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

She contacted the local NGO’s and teamed up with them to mobilize resources. Providing food, water, shelter and medical aid were the objectives.  This young successful “Nail Polish” actor and super hit music video star of Maninder Buttar’s “Mombatiyan’ ’is extremely popular and has a huge fan following on social media. It was her social media influence apart from her personal involvement that she decided to tap and harness for animal welfare. She amplified causes and messages on her social media, facilitated donations and funds which were extremely crucial in funding the nationwide mammoth task that she undertook.

She gathered local support through a network of volunteers in various states. Gradually from focussing on the strays in Jammu and Kashmir this initiative moved on to became a mass movement Nationwide. Thousand of like-minded individuals and volunteers joined in and supported this cause. Samreen Kaur has been working relentlessly over the past year as a crusader for the voiceless!
