British cricket team will be on the tour of Indian land in the coming month for 3 ODIs, 5 Tests and 3 T-20 internationals. To deal with the extra spin Indian Pitches ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) has appointed Former Pakistani spinner Saqlain Mushtaq as the spin consultant for the coming tour. The team wants to take advantage of the experience Saqlain have in playing with the local team.
As per the schedule, Saqlain will reach India on 1st of November and then will be with the team for the next 15 days, preparing them for the spin conditions. Seeing the venues, it is clear that all test matches are planned on spin friendly pitches. First test match is scheduled to be played from 9th Nov at Rajkot. In a direct interaction, Saqlain has shared “I will be assisting the English team spinners on to take the advantage from spin pitches in India”, adding to that he has said, “ I will also be helping the English team batsman to tackle the charges of Extra spin”. It is going to be a challenging assignment he admitted.
How the experience plays and how much he can deliver to the guest team, we will be seeing when the actual games will be playing. Indian team is in good pace and test matches on their home grounds are always a plus point having Spin attack of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to the side.
