Kolkata: West Bengal cm and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's close officer and former Kolkata commissioner of police Rajiv Kumar appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Kolkata on Friday. His appearance before the CBI was in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.

It may be mentioned that the CBI had earlier summoned IPS Rajeev Kumar, but had sought a respite of seven days citing his leave. He was last questioned by the CBI in Shilong. The ban on Rajiv Kumar's arrest in the Saradha chit fund scam was withdrawn by the apex court. Then Rajiv Kumar had approached the Calcutta High Court. The Calcutta High Court then stayed his arrest. Now the next hearing of the case will be on June 12.
Let me tell you that the CBI wants to interrogate Rajiv Kumar in connection with the Saradha Chit fund scam in West Bengal. The CBI has also attempted a raid on Rajiv Kumar's hideout in Kolkata, but the Kolkata police had, in contrast, arrested the CBI team officials.
