Saudi Arabia has once again despised Pakistan. Army President General Qamar Javed Bajwa himself arrived in Riyadh on Monday to convince Saudi Arabia, angered by the rhetoric of Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. After his arrival in Saudi, he too was not welcomed officially. According to Pakistani media, despite all possible efforts of Bajwa, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman did not give him time to meet.

According to media reports, General Faiz Hameed, head of Pak intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had also reached with Bajwa. Bajwa met with Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Defense Khalid bin Salman and Saudi Arabia's army chief General Fayad bin Ahmed Al Rua'ili but failed to take time from the Crown Prince.

The decades-old friendship between the two countries sparked bitterness when Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi warned the Saudis for not supporting the Kashmir issue against India. Qureshi targeted Saudi in a TV interview on the first anniversary of the abolition of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir from India. Qureshi gave a strict warning to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), led by Saudi Arabia. Qureshi had said, "If you cannot interfere in this, then I will be forced to call a meeting of those Islamic countries under the leadership of PM Imran Khan who are ready to stand with us on the Kashmir issue".
