SCR GM applauds officers and staff for getting best parcel revenue in history

Hyderabad: Parcel trains, operated by Zones of South Central Railway, have helped ferry essential commodities like fruits, onions, eggs, fish and mangoes to various destinations across the country. The zone has earned a revenue of Rs 109.06 crore by loading 2.56 lakh tonnes of parcels during the first six months in the current financial year 2021-2022, duly surpassing the entire parcel revenue of 108.30 crores of previous years. During the period April, 2021 to September 27, the zone has run 343 Kisan Rails carrying 1,08,388 tonnes for the transportation of onions, mangoes and other agricultural commodities, generating a revenue of Rs 49.43 crore.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway appreciated the efforts made by the regional and divisional teams of the operational and commercial branches to achieve the best ever parcel revenue in the history of the region during the first six months of the current financial year. He advised the teams to maintain the same pace. In addition, SCR operated Doodh Duronto Special in the national capital carrying 3.78 crore liters of milk, generating revenue of Rs 17.85 crore. Other major revenue generating commodities are through transportation of fish, eggs, hard parcels etc. The sector has transported 37,199 tonnes of fish and 19,570 tonnes of eggs, generating revenue of Rs 8.91 crore and Rs 3.88 crore respectively. Importantly, the zone has achieved 100% barcoding for tracking parcel packages, a senior SCR official said.

The GM directed the officers and staff to take a proactive approach to address the concerns of the parcel customers and duly strengthen the existing traffic and make every effort to attract new traffic.
