New Delhi: The cremation ghats under the Southern Municipal Corporation of Delhi (SDMC) will now be replaced by cow dung during the funeral. SDMC reported this on Sunday. Earlier, the corporation had issued a statement stating that the proposal for use of upholstery instead of using wood at the funeral has been given the green signal during the SDMC meeting.

South Delhi Mayor Anamika issued a statement stating that large cow dung-made ups will now be replaced by wood. She said that the cremation ghats have wooden, uple and paroli arrangements, but because of the small size of the upals, people pay attention to the use of wood. But now the corporation has passed the resolution which will also be kept at par with the size of the wood.

She said that there are arrangements for wood, cow dung bricks and straws at SDMC cremation sites. In addition, cow dung has a special significance in our culture. She also pointed out that some social organizations are also supporting our decision. People soon will be able to start taking advantage of this facility.
