Secunderabad: SCR will provide entry level training at three key locations for the benefit of more number of candidates to upgrade their skill sets and make them industry ready. The training has a mix of both theory and practical – 30 percent theory and 70 percent practical – so that trainees are skill-ready upon completion of the module. They will be provided 100 hours of training in about two weeks. Carriage Workshop, Lallaguda (Secunderabad/Hyderabad Region), Near Wagon Workshop, Rayanapadu, Vijayawada, and Carriage Repair Shop, Tirupati. Training will be provided in four major industry trades namely Fitter, Machinist, Electrician and Welder. A senior official said that the focus of the training is to develop skilled personnel as per the requirements of the industry.

Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway said that the training will develop the knowledge and skills of the youth and increase their employability in industries. This will be beneficial for both the industry and the youth. While there will be skilled workers in the industry, the youth will have employment opportunities. He called upon the youth to take advantage of the training and upgrade their skills by enrolling in the training.

A notification has already been issued by the railways inviting the candidates to enroll in the development scheme program which is free of cost. Eligibility X is pass and age is between 18-35 years. The training for the first batch is scheduled from September 20. In the first phase, two batches of trainees, a total of 280, are to be trained at three locations - 100 each at Carriage Workshop and Carriage Repair Shop and 80 at Wagon Workshop, Rayanapadu.
