New Delhi: On Friday, MS Dhoni turned 42, and congratulations from his former teammates flooded in for the iconic former India captain. Many of them were athletes, like Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, who spent a significant portion of their playing careers under his leadership and publicly expressed their gratitude for the advice he provided them in the beginning of their careers.
It took Ravichandran Ashwin a little while to tweet his birthday greeting, and when he finally did, he said it would be the last time he would do it on Twitter.“Tweeting on July 7th without wishing the great man a happy birthday can prove to be catastrophic. Happy birthday Mahi bhai. #disclaimer this will be my last birthday wish on Twitter for anyone. I believe I will stick to wishing them directly or call them. The disclaimer was for all gossip mongers and story spinners,” said Ashwin in his post.

The strategy that Dhoni notably perfected is the one that Ashwin aspires to use. For the past few years, the CSK skipper has been sparingly posting on social media, limiting it to videos from his house and occasionally for announcements.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, claimed that Dhoni was the only one to text him during his dry spell in international cricket.
Ashwin, who is regarded as one of the best spinners India has ever produced, originally rose to fame with CSK under Dhoni's captaincy and later made his international debut while the wicketkeeper-batter was in charge of the squad across all formats.
The T20 World Cup, World Cup, and Champions Trophy are the only three white-ball competitions held by the International Cricket Council (ICC) that Dhoni has triumphed in as captain. In his first-ever duty as team captain, he led India to the 2007 T20 World Cup victory.

The team won the 2011 ODI World Cup under his leadership, making him just the second Indian, following Kapil Dev in 1993, to have done so. In the 2013 Champions Trophy final, he later led India to their first-ever outright victory.
India technically won the Champions Trophy for the second time after sharing the trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002. Dhoni led India to their rise to the top of the Test rankings for the first time.
