Stock market closed on first day of the week, Sensex-Nifty closed with excellent growth

Mumbai: Due to positive start in domestic stock market and weakness in US currency, today, the domestic stock market closed with an increase on Monday, the first trading day of the week. Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) main index Sensex gained 592.97 points to close at 37981.63 level. On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty closed at 11227.55 with strength of 177.30 points.

Earlier in the early trade, the Sensex opened at 37604.50, up 215.84 points, or the Nifty opened at 11105.35 with a strength of 55.10 points. Today's major shares of IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, ONGC and Tata Motors closed in a strong position. On the other hand, shares of Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle India and Infosys declined.

On Monday, the rupee rose by six paise to 73.55 against the US dollar during initial trading on Monday. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the local unit lost three paise to open at 73.64, but recovered to 73.55 against the dollar, showing a strength of six paise against the previous closing price.
