Andre Rublev defeated Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-0 to clinch the Serbia Open tennis tournament, his third title this season. The second-ranked Russian has barred top-ranked Djokovic from winning his first title in 2022.

The 24-year-old Rublev showed great play in the third set after losing the second set in the tiebreaker and has prevented Djokovic from winning a single game. Rublev won the match in 2 hours and 24 minutes.   Djokovic, 10 years older than Rublev, had returned after trailing in all three of his matches to reach the final of the tournament being played in his home city, but the Russian did not give him such an opportunity.

Earlier, it was reported that the world's top-ranked player Novak Djokovic has made a good comeback after losing the first set to advance to the semi-finals of the Serbia Open tennis tournament. Djokovic defeated Miomir Kekamanovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. This is the 10th consecutive time he has won against his compatriot Serbian player.

In the semi-finals, Djokovic will be seen taking on third seed Karen Khachanov, who has defeated Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro 7-5, 6-4. Djokovic had earlier on Wednesday also struggled hard to win 2-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4) over compatriot Laslo Jere.   Earlier on Thursday, second seed Andre Rublev defeated Jiri Lacheka 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-2 and Fabio Fognini defeated Alyaz Bedene 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals.
