Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Shafiqullah Shafaq has been banned for six years on charges of corruption. Shafak has been banned for his involvement in corruption-related activities while playing for Afghanistan Premiere League in 2018 and Nangarh Leppards in 2018 and Bangladesh Premier League in 2019. He has been banned for playing all formats.

Shafak admitted all allegations: Shafiqullah Shafaq has admitted all four allegations of breaking the Anti-Corruption Code of Conduct of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. The cricket board said in a statement, "Shafaq was accused of violating Article 2.1.1 which is related to fixing or in any way joining or improperly influencing, or being a party to an agreement. It also involves deliberately performing unnecessarily. In addition, Shafaq was charged with violation of Article 2.1.3 and two other charges.

A double century was set in 2018: Shafiqullah came into the limelight in the year 2018 when he hit just 89 balls double century. He did an amazing double century in the domestic T20 tournament Nangarhar Champion Trophy. He also holds the record for making the fastest double century in first-class cricket. He scored a double century off 89 balls. The thirty-year-old Shafak has played 24 ODIs and 46 T20 Internationals for Afghanistan. His last international match was T20 which he had against Bangladesh in September 2019.
