In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor said: "There have been a number of films in the past that have seen similarities as Kabir Singh in the character. However, those characters have not been criticised by anyone like Kabir Singh. There was a scene in Sanju where a man stands in front of his wife and says he has slept with more than 300 girls. Nobody reacted to this dialogue as people are trolling Kabir Singh," but Shahid further says he enjoyed the film Sanju.
The actor said, "I Don't say that I didn't like Sanju. I enjoyed the film a lot because I didn't see Sanju because of how people should be. I watched the film to see what the actor's life was like," he said.
