NEW DELHI: During a discussion on the motion of thanks to President Ram Nath Kovind's address, Congress leader and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday raised the issue of violence in various parts of the country in the name of cow protection. Tharoor said that illegal cow protection committees across the country are carrying out violent acts. Can it not be that only authorised committees are allowed to do cow protection?

Shashi Tharoor further questioned, "The issue of cow protection is the state of law, like mushrooms, it is spreading across the country and committing violent acts," Tharoor said, "When will the government take action on these illegal cow protection committees?" These committees continue to be a den of violence. Tharoor's question was answered by Union Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh has said, "There is a definite procedure to investigate the question that Tharoor is asking. I would like to request you that if you have any specific objection that will definitely be acted upon," Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, "Agriculture generates more income from farmers, and our government has a complete system of livestock conservation.
