Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik's custody has been extended by the Enforcement Directorate's Special PMLA Court till March 7. Nawab Malik's custody in the Dawood Ibrahim Money Laundering Case ended today. The special court had sent him to 8-day Enforcement Directorate custody. Nawab Malik filed a petition in the Bombay High Court calling his arrest illegal, which will be heard in the high court on March 7.

The matter was heard in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday. In the wake of the hearing, the Enforcement Directorate sought time from the court to respond to Nawab Malik's plea. The court gave the Enforcement Directorate time till March 7. The high court will now hear the hearing on March 7. Malik had on Monday moved the Bombay High Court claiming that the Enforcement Directorate's action against him was due to political reasons. Nawab Malik is alleged to have purchased land worth Rs 300 crore worth of Munira Plumber at Kurla in Mumbai for Rs 30 lakh and the payment was made for Rs 20 lakh.

At the same time, 1 paisa was not given to the owner of this land. Rather, through the power of attorney, this land was connected to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and got the names of the criminals of Mumbai bomb blasts. Thereafter, this land was taken in the name of Faraj Malik, son of Nawab Malik. In return, Rs 50 lakh was transferred to the account of Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar. Earlier, the team of the investigating agency had questioned the NCP leader and minister in the state government, Nawab Malik and after that, he was taken into custody.
