Amritsar: An alarming incident shedding light on the shortcomings of government healthcare facilities has emerged in Ludhiana district of Punjab. It was discovered that the body of a deceased patient lay unattended on the same bed alongside another patient at the Ludhiana Civil Hospital for several hours. Shockingly, the patient admitted to the hospital had to share the bed with the deceased throughout the night, while hospital staff reportedly paid no attention to the situation. When the incident came to light the next morning, health department officials were thrown into a state of panic. The hospital staff were summoned, and the body was subsequently removed and transferred to the mortuary.

The health department officials have chosen to remain tight-lipped regarding this egregious display of negligence within the hospital. Hospital authorities have denied any knowledge of the incident. According to available information, an elderly man was brought to the civil hospital via ambulance a few days ago and was accommodated in the same ward as another patient named Sunil. Tragically, the elderly patient passed away shortly after admission, yet his body was left unattended on the bed beside Sunil throughout the night.

Sunil himself has corroborated this harrowing account. Despite his repeated requests to the security guard for assistance, no aid arrived. Sunil, who had a leg fracture and could not walk, was left with no choice but to share the bed with the deceased. Responding to the matter, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni has initiated an investigation and demanded a report from the relevant authorities. She has vowed to take strict action against any negligent hospital staff.

Upon learning of the incident, opposition parties wasted no time in criticizing the Bhagwant Mann-led government. Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal took to Twitter to question the adequacy of healthcare facilities and the claims of the Aam Aadmi Party. As of now, the Aam Aadmi Party has refrained from commenting on these allegations.
