A jury found R&B artist R Kelly guilty of masterminding a decades-long racketeering and sex trafficking enterprise that preyed on Black women and children. According to media reports, the disgraced singer was found guilty on all nine charges on Monday afternoon, marking a landmark #MeToo victory for Black women and girls after decades of avoiding criminal justice for numerous allegations of misconduct.

After prosecutors and defence attorneys finished their closing arguments at the end of a gruelling six-week trial in Brooklyn, New York, that featured shocking testimony detailing Kelly's abuse of women, girls, and boys, the panel of seven men and five women began deliberating the charges on Friday afternoon. According to media reports, he stood still as the verdict was read out, his eyes downcast. Meanwhile, Robert Sylvester Kelly, 54, was charged with running a criminal organization in Chicago that recruited women and children and subjected them to unwanted sex and mental abuse.

Kelly allegedly forced them to pursue strange and violent desires when they were kids in a conspiracy that stretched more than two decades, according to multiple witnesses. Mr Kelly is "the worst" of all the predators Gloria Allred has pursued, including Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein, according to Gloria Allred, a lawyer for numerous of Kelly's victims. Outside the courthouse, Allred said, "R Kelly believed he could get away with everything, but he didn't." “Despite his belief that he could manage everything, he was mistaken.”

Kelly, who is best known for the 1996 hit song I Believe I Can Fly, will face up to 20 years in prison.
