Lucknow: The deadline of the 3-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Home Secretary Bhagwan Swaroop, which is investigating the Bul Garhi case, has been extended by 10 days. The investigation of the Hathras case was to be handed over to CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday, but the principal secretary (Home) has given 10 days more time due to the increased scope of the investigation. After the SIT submitted the initial report, CM Yogi Adityanath suspended 5 policemen including SP, CO of Hathras. The SIT was given seven days to investigate.

In this case, the four criminals have been arrested and sent to jail. CM Yogi Adityanath had summoned the Investigation Report after constituting the SIT in view of the protests of the aggrieved family and opposition parties. However, later the CM also recommended a CBI inquiry into the case.

On September 14, 4 boys allegedly gang-raped a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Bul Garhi village of Hathras and then tried to strangulate her. The victim was later admitted to the Aligarh Medical College, but the situation did not improve and she was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where the victim died during treatment on 29 September. But there was an uproar when the police cremated her at night without handing over the dead body to the family. After this incident, there was an outrage on social media. Also, the investigation of the case is going on continuously.
