Chhattisgarh: Six Naxalites, including a female member, were killed during a clash with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The encounter occurred in the jungles of Chikurbhatti and Pusbaka villages, under the Basaguda police station area, while security personnel were conducting an anti-Naxal operation. Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P confirmed the incident, stating that the operation involved personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action).

"After the gunfire ceased, the bodies of six Naxalites, including a woman, were found at the scene," Sundarraj P said. The search operation is ongoing in the region. Bijapur district falls within the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, which is scheduled for elections in the initial phase on April 19th.

The clash erupted as security forces were engaged in a mission to counter Naxal activities. The joint team, comprising personnel from various security units, encountered armed resistance from the Naxalites in the dense jungles of Bijapur. In the ensuing exchange of fire, six Naxalites lost their lives, marking a significant victory for the security forces in their ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the region.

The presence of a female cadre among the deceased highlights the active involvement of women in Naxal operations, underscoring the complex and multifaceted nature of the conflict. Security officials have intensified their search operations in the area to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining threats.
