New Delhi: Politics has heated up over a controversial statement of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. The BJP has targeted Rahul on his statement comparing South India and North India. Amethi Lok Sabha seat MP and Union Minister Smriti Irani has targeted Rahul Gandhi, calling him a favour. She said that the North India that Rahul is questioning, he should remember that Sonia Gandhi is also an MP from here.

Talking to a news channel, the Union Minister targeted the Gandhi family. Smriti said that if there is inferiority complex towards the people of North India, then why are they doing politics in North India. Why Priyanka Vadra has not yet rejected Rahul's statement. Amethi MP Smriti Irani said that when the Gandhi family returns to Amethi again, they will have to answer. She said that the North India that Rahul Gandhi is insulting, he is forgetting that his mother Sonia Gandhi is also an MP from the same region, what Rahul Gandhi said is not forgivable. Before that, Smriti had targeted Rahul's statement by tweeting.

Rahul Gandhi said in a ceremony held in Trivandrum 'I was an MP in North India for 15 years. I got used to a different kind of politics. It was very new for me to come to Kerala because I suddenly felt that the people here are interested in the issues and are going to expand the issues on the ground'. This statement of Rahul Gandhi has been targeted by Smriti Irani. She tweeted and wrote, 'Ehsaan Faramosh! The world says about him - Thotha Chana Baje Ghana.'
