World NGO Day is being celebrated today i.e. on February 27. In 2010, 12 members of the Baltic Sea's NGO Forum officially recognized it by nations. United Nations, EU leaders and international organizations marked the day for the first time in 2014.

World NGO Day was recognized on April 17, 2010, by the Baltic Sea NGO Forum of the Council of states of the Baltic Sea. The member states of the NGO Forum of the Baltic Sea were Belarus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Norway and Sweden.
