New Delhi: Social media is an important part of our day to day life. everything has it own pros and cons. Former Indian cricketer and selector Sandeep Patil went through a tragic incident. An unknown person created a fake Facebook profile of Sandeep Patil and started asking for the phone numbers of celebrities. When Patil came to know about it through a friend, he lodged a complaint to the police. Patil was at Shivaji Park Gymkhana in Dadar last week.

That's when one of his friends turned Patil's attention to his Facebook account. As soon as Patil came to know about it, he found that an unknown person was using his photographs to operate the fake account. The person has also sought a number of BCCI members, cricketers and celebrities through his Facebook account.

Patil immediately informed the police and lodged a complaint with the Shivaji Park Police Station. On the basis of Patil's complaint, the police registered a case under the Information Technology Act and searched for the accused. Interestingly, Sandeep Patil has no accounts on social media. According to the Mid-Day report, Sandeep Patil said, "I don't have an account on any social media platform. A friend of mine informed me about this fake Facebook account. Only then did I find out about it. I immediately informed the BCCI, after which I decided to lodge a complaint with the police.
