Kolkata: Former Indian captain and the veteran batsman has spoken a lot about Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Ganguly said Team India will have to make a habit of playing without Dhoni. Ganguly told a magazine that Indian cricket has to make it habitual that Dhoni will not play for long. I think it is for Dhoni to take this decision.

"Every big player has to retire. That's the game. Maradona also had to retire in football. Tendulkar, Lara, Brandman all had to say goodbye to the game. That's what it has been like. Dhoni will also face this situation," he said, though, adding that the final decision has to be taken by Dhoni. Dhoni had debuted in Sourav Ganguly's captain in 2004. Ganguly played his last Test match against Australia in Nagpur after four years in Dhoni's captaincy.

Dhoni had asked Ganguly to take over the captaincy of the team in the last minute of the last match. Sourav Ganguly added, "He is now at a career stage where he has to judge his status. He has to think about whether he can win the match for India. Can he perform like MS Dhoni's level? "The decision of retirement is completely personal. A big player like Dhoni knows when to retire. But what is the plan ahead, how the next things will happen are in the hands of the Selection Committee.
