Congress leader Sonia Gandhi visited President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Tuesday, August 23. Following Murmu's election as president, this is the Congress President's first visit.

"President, Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan," read a tweet from the President's Secretariat. Murmu is the nation's second female president and its first tribal leader. At the time of the election, the Congress opposed her candidacy and supported Yashwant Sinha, the united opposition candidate. This was a courtesy visit, according to sources in the Congress.

On the eve of Independence Day, Murmu delivered her inaugural address, highlighting the success of Covid vaccinations, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and the expansion of the nation's economy following the epidemic.


Meeting With MP Rajeev Shukla by Sonia Gandhi Prior to the Himachal polls: - According to sources, Sonia Gandhi, the party's leader, called Congressman Rajiv Shukla. Shukla is travelling to Janpath 10, where he will meet Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. Just before the distribution of electoral ballots for Himachal Pradesh, he was in the area to meet with someone. 

 A few days after senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad retired from party service in Jammu and Kashmir, Anand Sharma, a prominent member of the Congress and a member of the "G-23," announced that he was stepping down as the chairman of the Congress "steering committee" in Himachal Pradesh. Prior to the state's Assembly elections, Sharma protested to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi in a letter that he felt excluded from party decisions and that his self-respect was "non-negotiable".
