Mumbai: Maharashtra minister and senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday apologised to the people of Pune for the inconvenience caused by the rains. He said that people have faced problems due to heavy rains. We are reviewing the arrangements. We'll come up with a plan soon.

In Pune, two persons were killed in rain-related incidents, while over 500 people were rescued from low-lying areas and shifted to safer places. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the Shivajinagar area recorded 104 mm of rainfall, Magarpatta 116 mm and the Pashan area 94 mm in about 5 hours till 3 am on Tuesday. Minister-in-charge of Pune district, Patil said that I apologize to the people of the district along with Pune city for the problem caused by heavy rains. Heavy rain has been reported in the city. I will find out what caused many troubles after the rain. We will review the situation and make a plan to avoid the recurrence of such incidents in future.

Patil further said that we have scheduled meetings with several bodies including Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Metropolitan Transport Corporation (PMPML), police officers and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to discuss this issue. Due to the meeting, the entire district will be reviewed. Let us inform you that due to rain, severe waterlogging has been reported in many areas of the city including Market Yard, Sinhagad Road, Hadapsar, BT Kawade Road, Katraj, NIBM Road, Kondhwa.
