New Delhi: Concerns of the Indian cricket team are growing before the end of the New Year. India are scheduled to play a Test series against South Africa at the end of the year, with the first match scheduled for December 26. But team India has suffered a setback earlier as Rohit Sharma, who was recently made vice-captain of the Test team, has been injured. BCCI has not yet announced a new vice-captain.
All team India players have arrived in Mumbai before going on a tour of South Africa. It was here that Rohit Sharma suffered a hand injury during practice. While Rohit Sharma was batting, a throw-down ball hit his hand. Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-match Test series due to a hamstring. BCCI said, India-A captain Priyank Panchal has been included in the squad in place of Rohit Sharma, who has also entered the bio-bubble. Priyank Panchal recently captained India-A in South Africa, while he is also a player with a lot of experience in first-class cricket.
But now the question is whether anyone will be made vice-captain in the Test series against South Africa. It is yet to be announced, but may be before the first Test. There are many contenders for the post too, kl rahul, who plays the opener in Tests, can be given the responsibility. Ajinkya Rahane, who captained the Test against New Zealand, could also be made vice-captain.
