SEOUL:  The South Korea weather agency predicted on Saturday that Typhoon Hinnamnor would make landfall early next week close to the southern city of Busan in South Korea.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) predicts that the strong typhoon will make landfall on September 6 at 9 a.m. 70 km southwest of the port city .

The typhoon, which will be the eleventh of the year, is forecast to hit the nation as a "strong" typhoon, the third strongest in a four-tier system, with an atmospheric pressure of 950 hectopascals at its centre and a top wind speed of 43 metres per second, according to to report, which was based on information from the KMA. According to the presidential office, President Yoon Suk-yeol directed Interior Minister Lee Sang-min to develop the strongest response measures in order to prepare for potential damage from Hinnamnor.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters reportedly started operating in the morning and upgraded its typhoon alert level from "blue" to "yellow," according to the Interior Ministry.

Hinnamnor was situated in waters 390 kilometers southeast of Taipei as of Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
On September 5, at 9 a.m., the typhoon is forecast to travel northward and make landfall 480 kilometers south-southwest of Seogwipo on Jeju Island.
