NEW DELHI: The Rouse Avenue Court today, March 4, extended the CBI  remand of former Delhi Minister Manish Sisodia in a case pertaining to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The Special  court of Judge M K Nagpal has granted two more days of remand of Manish Sisodia to CBI. In the meantime, the court set March 10, 2023 as the date for hearing on Manish Sisodia's bail.

Manish Sisodia's solicitor from the CBI requested an extension of his remand, saying, "He's still uncooperative and we need his further custody to confront him with two others. He spent a lot of time on his medicals. The Supreme Court dismissed the petition he submitted after one full day "CBI informed the Court.

Manish Sisodia's senior attorney Dayan Krishan makes an appearance on his behalf. He argues against the CBI's request for an extension of remand "What has changed since day one compared to today? Raids were carried out  at both my office and home. Is it logical to think that putting me in CBI custody would result in the production of a document?"

Senior attorney Mohit Mathur also attended on behalf of Sisodia and argued that my wife's medical condition is being overlooked while all of this is being taken into account. He added, "The individual who is not going to flee has to be seen that way too.

Manish Sisodia asserted in court during the hearing that CBI officials were looking out for him, treating him with respect, and giving him whatever he needed without resorting to the third degree. Yet they have me sit for nine to ten hours every day while asking the same questions over and over again. This isn't any less than mental torment, he claimed. Following that, the court ordered CBI to refrain from posing the same queries.

Manish Sisodia, a former minister of Delhi and the head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said in a trial court bail petition that detaining him in detention would be ineffective because all recoveries had already been made.

Sisodia added that he joined the inquiry when the Central Bureau of Investigation requested it (CBI). Bail has previously been approved for the other suspects who have been detained in this investigation. Sisodia added that he is well-established in society and occupies the significant constitutional position of Deputy CM of Delhi.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained Sisodia for alleged irregularities in the formulation and execution of the GNCTD excise policy.

Prior to sending Sisodia to CBI detention, Rouse Avenue Court ordered that the accused's questioning during the remand period take place in a location with CCTV coverage in compliance with the rules established by the Supreme Court, and that the CBI keep a copy of the recorded footage.

In connection with an ongoing investigation into potential irregularities in the formulation and application of the GNCTD excise policy, Sisodia was detained last Sunday.

The trial court noted that Sisodia had twice previously joined the investigation into this case, but it was also noted that he had not given satisfactory responses to the majority of the questions posed to him during his examination and interrogation, and had not adequately justified the incriminating evidence that had allegedly come to light against him in the investigation so far. As a result, the trial court sent Sisodia to CBI remand.

Although he cannot be expected to make self-incriminating statements, the court ruled that he must provide some reasonable responses to the investigation officer's questions in order to uphold justice and ensure a fair investigation.
