New Delhi: SpiceJet sent a plane on Tuesday afternoon to Kosice, Slovakia, to rescue Indians stranded in Ukraine as a result of Russia's military offensive.  On the western side, Slovakia shares a land border with Ukraine.

SpiceJet announced in a statement that Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju is flying to Slovakia as a Special Envoy of the Indian Government to oversee the evacuation. "The aircraft to fly from Delhi to Kosice, Slovakia, with a return flight through Kutaisi, Georgia," it said.

The flight to Kosice left Delhi at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the airline. India is arranging evacuation flights to neighboring countries such as Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary to evacuate its stranded residents, as Ukrainian airspace has been closed to civil aviation operations since February 24. SpiceJet's flight to Kosice is the company's second evacuation flight under 'Operation Ganga,' following a special flight from Delhi to Budapest, Hungary, on Monday night.
