Sri Lankan Foreign Minister meets Sushma Swaraj

Sushma Swaraj met the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana.

New Delhi: The External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Saturday met the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana and held discussions on a range of bilateral issues aimed at further strengthening the India-Sri Lanka partnership.

"Building upon a close & historical bilateral relationship. EAM @SushmaSwaraj met Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister Tilak Marapana today," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.​

He is on a three-day visit to India will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day. After assuming office as Foreign Minister it is the Marapana's first overseas visit.

He is being accompanied by Prasad Kariyawasam, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and M.A.K. Girihagama, Senior Director General of the South Asia and SAARC Division of the Ministry. 

When Sushma Swaraj went Colombo this month to attend the Second Indian Ocean Conference the two leaders had met.​
