 Boney Kapoor's first wife Mona Kapoor and Sridevi had a close friendship. Not only this, Mona had even given Sridevi a place to live in her house for a long time. During this she was dating actor Mithun Chakraborty. Mithun felt that something was going on between Boney Kapoor and Sridevi. Sridevi had tied Rakhi to Boney Kapoor, this was herself told by Boney's first wife Mona Kapoor during an interview. Mona had told that to assure Mithun of her love, Sridevi had tied a rakhi to Boney so that he could be sure that nothing was going on between Sridevi and Boney.

She also shared that people started giving many suggestions such as, 'why don't you lose weight?', But Mona ignored all these things and in place of accepting the negativity, she wished to create an identity for herself and children.

Boney Kapoor’s first five Mona had breathed her last on March 25, 2012, and Sridevi had left for the heavenly abode on February 24, 2018, the animosity they shared is still talked about. Sridevi and Boney had enjoyed marital bliss for more than two decades before she had left him devastated after her death. They also have two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi.
