Srikanth crashed out of Japan Open SuperSeries

In the men's singles quarterfinal match on Friday the Indian player Kidambi Srikanth lost a match in front of recently-crowned world champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in Japan by 17-21, 17-21 in a match that lasted for 40 minutes.

With this lost the 25-year-old Srikanth is crashed out of the Japan Open Super Series as he suffered a defeat to world No 2. He was not able to clinch a third successive title, with back-to-back victories at Indonesia and Australia.

The another Indian player H.S. Prannoy in the men's singles quarterfinal match in Tokyo on Friday suffered a defeat in front of China's Shi Yuqi. The player from China beat Prannoy by 15-21, 14-21 in a clash that lasted for 45 minutes. To reach the third round Prannoy had previously defeated Anders Antonsen and Hsu Jen Hao.

On Thursday, the Indian player Saina Nehwal lost a match to Rio Olympic gold medallist Carolina Marin. Thus, she was crashed out of the Japan Open Super Series. On the same day, the Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu lost to Nozomi Okuhara by 18-21 8-21 due to which she was also crashed out of the tournament.

In the mixed doubles event, the Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa also crashed out of the tournament after suffering a 27-29, 21-16, 12-21 defeat against the Indonesia pair of Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto.
