St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have conquered the 9th season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The Patriots, led by star Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, beat St Lucia Kings by 3 wickets in the breathtaking final played on Wednesday. The hero of the Patriots' victory was Dominic Drakes (48*), who took a run off the last ball to give the team a remarkable winning.

St Lucia Kings won the toss and elected to bat first, St Lucia Kings scored 159 runs with a loss of 7 wickets in the given 20 overs. While chasing, Nevis Patriots got the match by scoring 160/7 in 20 overs. This is the first CPL title of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, while the team of Kings reached the final for the 2nd time.

While batting first St Lucia Kings had a miserable start and lost the wickets of captain Andre Fletcher (11 runs) and Mark Dayal (1) within 32 runs. After this, Rahkeem Cornwall and Roston Chase took the team by sharing 44 runs for the third wicket. Cornwall and Roston Chase both contributed 43 runs. Then in the last over, Keemo Paul took the team to a respectable score by playing a responsive inning. Paul played an innings of 39 runs in just 21 balls, including 5 sixes. Fawad Ahmed and Naseem Shah took 2 wickets each for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. At the same time, Fabian Allen, Dominic Drakes, and John Russ Jageser got 1-1 wickets.

Chasing the apparent target of 160 runs, the Patriots' team had a very feeble start and Chris Gayle (0) was run by Roston Chase on the fourth ball of the innings. Then in the 4th over, the following opener Evin Lewis (6) was also caught out on the ball of Wahab Riaz. After this, Joshua de Silva (37 runs) and Sherfane Rutherford (25) took command of their team by adding 45 runs. Patriots needed 9 runs to win in the last over and had three wickets left. Then, Dominic Brack and Naseem Shah took the lead and preferred the team the title victory. Dominic Drax was given man of the match. Roston Chase, who performed all-around throughout the tournament, was represented Man of the Series.
