Demanding the repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the country, Nobel-winning economist Amartya Sen said that unity of the opposition was being required for any reason to be demonstrated. Apart from this, he said that demonstrations can continue even though there is no unity in the opposition. He said these things during the interaction with media personnel on Monday in connection with the ongoing protests about CAA, NRC and NPR. The same Sen said that unity of opposition is necessary for any kind of demonstration. In this case, the performances become easy. Unity is essential if performance is for the matter. He said that but if there is no unity, it does not mean that we will stop the demonstration. If we talk, as I said, unity makes performance easier, but even if there is no unity, we have to move forward and do what is necessary. Earlier speaking in Navnita Debsen Memorial Lecture, the economist said that it is necessary to emphasize the nuances of the new forces of the opposition. We need to know what I am demonstrating. There should be a synergy between heart and mind in the performance.

Apart from this, Sen said that when there is a big mistake in the constitution or human rights then there will definitely be reasons for the demonstration. She was the first wife of Deb Sen economist. Apart from this, he died in November last at his Kolkata residence. Sen, a critic of the Narendra Modi-led central government, had said a few days ago that the disputed Citizenship Amendment Act should be repealed. Mamta-Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who went on a sit-in at the CAA, a distance away from Sonia, stayed away from Sonia Gandhi's opposition meeting on CAA on Monday but joined the Trinamool Students' Council strike. From here the Trinamool chief gave the message that she is fighting a lonely battle against the CAA. At the moment, they are also accused of weakening the opposition's fight against the CAA. At the same time, Mamta Banerjee says that the movement succeeds as peaceful and solidarity apart from casteism.

It is noteworthy that amid rebellion from the Center, the Chief Minister paid a courtesy call to PM Narendra Modi at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. Apart from this, the Congress and the Left Front are attacking him. Responding to this, without taking names, Mamta said that by calling the bandh, some people agitate to get cheaper publicity while their policy is clear about the movement. The same experts believe that Mamata Banerjee has her own compulsion to distance herself from the opposition meeting. Actually, Bengal is going to have municipal elections in a few months, in such a situation, Mamata Banerjee does not want to create confusion among Bengal voters especially minority voters by going with Congress against CAA.
