Guntur: Today the people of the whole country are celebrating the birthday of PM Modi in their own way, meanwhile a 14 feet tall statue of PM Narendra Modi has been built in Tenali town of Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The special thing is that this statue has been made from a scrap of iron. This idol will be installed on the ground in Bangalore this month. After almost two months of hard work, a father-son duo has prepared it. This statue is now completely ready and it will be sent to Bangalore soon.

The same statue has been made by artist Katuru Venkateswara Rao and his son Katuru Ravi from Tenali in the Guntur district. According to him, this idol has been made entirely using more than a ton of waste dumped by automobile companies. It was deposited from the scrap markets of Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Guntur. We started making the statue at Tenali with the help of a team of 10 persons. Two tonnes of discharged automobile scrap such as bike chains, gear wheels, iron rods, nuts, bolts, and other broken pieces of unused metal were used to make the 14 feet tall statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Venkateswara Rao, a fifth-generation sculptor in the same family, told that his ancestors used to work only on the idols of the temple. He told, 'My father got off the track and started making small statues. This further diversified and started making bronze statues. My son started scrap art.' Hindustan Ambassador car models, auto-rickshaw, tractor, national emblem, elephant, bison, and bullock cart are some of the scrap artifacts that you can see here.
