New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government at the Center is going to amend the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC), and Evidence Act in the coming days. Along with this, consideration is going on to set a time limit for forensic investigation as well. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said this on Thursday (February 16) on the occasion of the 76th Foundation Day of Delhi Police. Along with this, Amit Shah has also praised the Delhi Police.
According to media reports, while addressing the program, the Home Minister said that Delhi will be the first state in the country to conduct a forensic investigation of those cases in which there is a provision of punishment of six years or more. Inducting five Mobile Forensic Vans (MFV) in Delhi Police, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that, our PM Modi-led government is going to make some amendments in IPC, CrPC, and Evidence Act in the coming days.
Shah further said that the government will bring these three laws in line with the time and spirit of the Constitution and will be further strengthened with the availability of forensic and other evidence. For this, the network of forensic science has to be spread across the country. Amit Shah said that the Delhi Police has also started testing a reform. Under this forensic investigation is mandatory in all cases with a punishment of more than six years.
The Home Minister said that there is a need to strengthen the judicial system of the country through the evidence of forensic science. When these mobile forensic vans equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and 14 different types of forensic kits go to the crime scene, the conviction rate will go up significantly. He said that 2023 is going to be very important for Delhi Police, as this year the capital will host international dignitaries from all over the world for the G20 summit.
