New Delhi: In the last financial year i.e. 2018-19, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has collected a total of Rs 800 crore. Of this amount, the corporates have received an electoral donation of Rs 472 crores to the BJP, out of which Rs 356 crores i.e. about 75 percent of the donations have been received by BJP from Progressive Electoral Trust of Tata Group.

BJP's veteran leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy have made sharp allegations against the BJP on this donation from the Tata group. The BJP gave this information to the Election Commission on 31 October. According to this, the BJP has received a total of over Rs 800 crore through checks and online payments this year, while the Congress has received only Rs 146 crore. In this, Congress has received an amount of about 99 crores from four electoral trusts. Of this, around 55.6 crores, or about 56 percent, came from Tata trusts.

The donations received by the BJP this year have almost tripled compared to last year. The most interesting thing is that in FY 2018-19, Tata's trust has given Rs 43 crore to Trinamool Congress as compared to zero in the previous financial year.
