In the new version, it is intended to eliminate the interference of insurance companies in the scheme and operate it under the supervision of the District Magistrates. There is also an intention to change the name of the scheme to 'Chief Minister Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojna'. This proposal of the revenue department is ready to get the approval of the cabinet.

According to the media report, in order to provide social security to farmers and families with income below 75 thousand rupees, the Akhilesh government started the Samajwadi Kisan and Sarvhit Bima Yojana in the year 2016. This scheme was introduced in place of the earlier Krishak Durghatna Bima Yojna. Under the scheme, there was a provision to give five lakh rupees as insurance amount in case of death and complete disability due to accident. After the accident, there was a provision of providing medical facilities up to Rs 2.5 lakh and artificial limbs up to Rs 1 lakh if needed.

In the Akhilesh government, the administration of the scheme was entrusted to the Institutional Finance Department. The Institutional Finance Department operated the scheme from 14 September 2016 to 13 September 2018. On coming to power, the Yogi government named the scheme as Chief Minister Kisan Sarvhit Yojna. From 14 September 2018, the Department of Revenue was operating this scheme. On 13 September 2019, the plan ended when the term was completed.
