New Delhi: NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar has resigned from his post. Yes and now in his place, Dr Suman K. Bery has been made the new Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog. According to an official statement issued recently, "The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the resignation of Rajiv Kumar. He will be released on March 30, 2022. At the moment, the reasons for his removal from the post are not known.''

Apart from this, the statement further said, "Dr Suman K. Beri was approved to be appointed as the Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog from May 1, 2022, till further orders in place of Rajiv Kumar. Yes, and Beri has been made a member of NITI Aayog till April 30, 2022, with immediate effect.'' Let us also tell you all that renowned economist Rajiv Kumar took over as the Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog in August 2017. Kumar was given the responsibility after the then Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya withdrew from the Commission.

At the same time, Rajiv Kumar had a doctorate in economics from Oxford University and a PhD from Lucknow University. Apart from this, he has also been a senior 'fellow' at the Centre for Policy Research.
