New Delhi: Abdullah Azam Khan, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan, has got a major setback from the Supreme Court in the case of his birth certificate. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the review petition filed by Abdullah Azam Khan, upholding the earlier verdict of the Allahabad High Court.

It may be noted that earlier, the Allahabad High Court had disqualified former Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Abdullah Azam for not having completed the minimum qualifying age on the date of the election. This decision of the High Court was challenged by the SP leader in the Supreme Court. After considering this, the Supreme Court has said in its comment that we make it clear that the Allahabad High Court has found that this election petition is related to the election of Mohammad Abdullah Azam Khan, the elected candidate from 34 Swar assembly constituency of Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to media reports, the Supreme Court further said that the result of the election had come on March 11, 2017 and if any criminal case is related to the subject, it would be decided on that basis.
