New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given a big relief to Gautam Navlakha, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon case. The top court has stayed Navlakha's arrest for four more weeks. Along with this, he will have to present an anticipatory bail petition. The Supreme Court had earlier granted him relief from arrest till October 15. Also, the court had asked the Maharashtra government to present the existing evidence against Gautam Navlakha on the next date of hearing.

Earlier, Justice S. Ravindra Bhatt of the Supreme Court had recused himself from hearing the petition of Gautam Navlakha. Navlakha has been accused in the Bhima Koregaon case. He has filed a petition in the court to quash the FIR lodged against him. First CJI Ranjan Gogoi refused to hear the petition of social activist Navlakha. After this, on Tuesday, his petition Justice N.V. Raman, Justice BR Subhash Reddy and Justice BR Gavai came before the bench.

But Justice Gavai also distanced himself from the hearing. Then his petition came before the bench of Justice S. Ravindra Bhatt. Those who have abstained from hearing on this. In the Bhima-Koregaon violence case, Gautam Navlakha filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Bombay High Court. The High Court refused to quash the FIR against him. The Chief Justice had said that the matter should be referred to a bench in which he is not a party.
