New Delhi: The apex court said that it will give a decision on June 12 on the issue of giving full salary to the employees of private companies and factories etc. during the lockdown, but no action is taken on the company owners who were unable to give full salary to the employees till the order comes. During the hearing, in the apex court, the government said that when the lockdown came into force, the notification was then issued with the intention of preventing the employees from migrating to their homelands leaving their place of work.

In the last hearing, the apex court sought a reply from the central government in a week. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court in this case, which was filed by some industries expressing inability to pay their staff. During the hearing, the Central Government told the Supreme Court that in the new notification of the government related to the lockdown, the condition of giving full salary to the employees during the lockdown has been removed.

The government said that private companies are free to deduct their employees' pay during lockdown. But the lawyers of the industries have described the government's move as inadequate. Some petitioners opposed the order not to pay full wages. The apex court postponed the hearing for a week and asked the government to respond.
