SC issues major order To Provide Rs. 50,000 Compensation For Each Covid Death

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has ordered compensation in the corona infection death case. The families of those who died of corona infection will be compensated for 50,000 rupees. This financial assistance will be in addition to the assistance already being provided by the Central and State Governments under various schemes. The compensation amount will be paid through the State Disaster Relief Fund. The amount will have to be paid to the family within thirty days of filing the application for compensation. Also, each beneficiary's information will be required to be published in the print media.

The Supreme court said that no compensation can be denied to anyone for not registering a covid as the cause of death in the death certificate only. The District Authority will take necessary steps to register the cause of death in such a situation. In such a situation, the family will be able to file a claim for compensation by submitting the hospital records. The grievance redressal on the application of the family will look at the limited papers. The committee will also have the right to summon medical records from the hospital. The committee will decide on the compensation within 30 days.

The Supreme Court said that if someone dies within thirty days of the confirmation of covid in the RTPCR test, such people will be entitled to compensation. Whether the death is at home or in the hospital, compensation will be paid in both appearances. As per the above guidelines of the court, the Health Ministry and NDMA states will issue guidelines.
