Supreme Court orders Allahabad High Court to look over Hathras case

New Delhi: The Apex Court today said that the Allahabad High Court is allowed to monitor the Hathras case over the alleged gang rape and vandalism of a Dalit girl. During the hearing of a PIL and several petitions filed by lawyers and activists, the Apex court was told that a fair trial is not possible in Uttar Pradesh as the investigation has reportedly been confused.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Boelder dismissed the apprehension and said, "The High Court should deal with it. If there is any problem, we are here." In addition to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, lawyers like Harish Salway, Indira Jayasingh and Siddhartha Luthra were present in the court on behalf of several parties during the hearing.

No lawyer wanted to cross-examine it, but the Apex court said, "We don't need the help of the whole world." During the hearing, it was also stated that in no case the identity of the victim is made public and his family members and witnesses are given full protection and protection.
