Supreme Court rejects Asaram Bapu’s bail plea in rape case

New Delhi: Asaram Bapu, who is serving a jail term in a rape case, has not even got relief from the Supreme Court. The apex court has refused interim bail to Asaram Bapu and asked the state government to respond. Asaram Bapu has been serving a sentence in jodhpur's central jail since 2013.

However, the apex court has decided to examine whether Asaram Bapu, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case, can be shifted to ayurvedic hospital in Rajasthan for treatment. Asaram, who has suffered from corona, has requested that he should not be kept with allopathic medicines. The apex court has asked the state to take a stand in this regard by Tuesday and the matter will now be heard on Tuesday. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has sought a response from the State Government in this regard.

Earlier also, Asaram Bapu had filed a bail plea in the Rajasthan High Court but the High Court had rejected the interim bail plea. Asaram Bapu was seeking interim bail on health grounds. Asaram was admitted to the AIIMS after being infected with corona.
