New Delhi: The apex court on Thursday sought a response from the Centre in view of the country's crisis in the wake of the second wave of the global epidemic corona virus. Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the court issued a notice to the Centre seeking a national plan. It has also sought response on the supply of essential medicines and oxygen to infected patients.

A bench headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice S A Bobde said that cases related to the process of corona vaccination will also be considered. The bench also includes Justices LN Rao and SR Bhatt. The court questioned the Central government as to what plan they have to deal with the epidemic corona virus. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the apex court that there is a huge need for oxygen in the country.

The court has also appointed Harish Salve as amicus curiae in the case. The Supreme Court has sought a national plan from the Central government on four important issues. The first is supply of oxygen, the second is the supply of medicines, the third is the method and procedure of administering the vaccine and the fourth is the power of the State Government to lockdown, not to the court. The next hearing in the case will now be held on April 23.
