New Delhi: Fugitive liquor businessman Vijay Mallya has been reprimanded by the top court. The apex court has challenged the decision of the Karnataka High Court, which said that the loan amount taken by Mallya should be collected by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by giving the seized property to the banks. While hearing the case, the apex court has given a strict hearing to Mallya.

The court said that Mallya did not return a single penny to the banks. In the Supreme Court, Justice RF Nariman has distanced himself from hearing this case. In fact, Justice Nariman's father Senior Advocate Fali Nariman has pleaded for accused Vijay Mallya in another case. Let me tell you that Mallya had fled India without repaying the loan of Rs 9,000 crore taken from Indian banks and is currently going through extradition related processes in England.

In January last year, the special court had declared Mallya a fugitive economic offender and started proceedings to seize his property in cases related to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). At the same time, Kingfisher House, owned by absconding liquor businessman Vijay Mallya, has been put up for auction for the 8th time in three years.
