Sushmita Dev announces joining TMC after quitting Congress

Kolkata: Former MP Sushmita Dev on Monday took over the reins of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He resigned from congress party membership on August 15. Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien have now got Sushmita Dev to join the TMC. Party leaders had also targeted the Congress leadership by questioning Sushmita Dev's departure from the Congress.

Congress leaders had said that there should be brainstorming on why such leaders are leaving the party. Sushmita Dev was the Chief of the All India Mahila Congress in the Congress. Sushmita Dev's father Santosh Mohan Dev is holding well in Assam. He has also served as a Union Minister in the Rajiv Gandhi government. After her father, Sushmita Dev has also gone to Parliament after winning from Silchar seat on a Congress ticket in the Lok Sabha.

In fact, with the help of Sushmita Dev, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is planning its expansion to other states, with Assam and Tripura first eyeing it. TMC wants to expand outside Bengal. The party feels that Tripura and Assam have a good opportunity for him where he can get success. In fact, there are Bengali-speaking people in the Barak Valley of Assam, while Tripura also has a large number of Bengalis.
