Please inform that Sanjay Raut, arrested in the Patra Chawl scam case, is currently in judicial custody in Arthur Road Jail. Apart from Sanjay Raut, his close aide Praveen Raut has also got bail from the PMLA court. Sanjay Raut has got bail, but the suspense about his release remains intact. The Enforcement Directorate has applied for a stay on bail, on which the decision will come today itself at 3 pm.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in July this year in connection with the Patra Chawl scam. Thereafter, several times the court rejected Sanjay Raut's bail plea. Now he is relieved and will come out of jail after 102 days.

What is the Patra Chawl scam?

The Patra Chawl scam started in the year 2007. Patra Chawl is located in the Goregaon area of Mumbai and this place was spread over 47 acres. Initially, Guru Construction Company took the contract to redevelop it and later it was sold to several companies including Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL). More than 600 people were to be given houses here, but even after 15 years, the company did not give flats to the people. In this case, there is an allegation of this scam in connivance of Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority (MHADA), Praveen Raut, and Guru Ashish Construction and Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL).
