Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh has resigned from the post of leader of the Legislative Council. However, there is no official word on why he has resigned as leader of the Legislative Council. According to BJP sources, Swatantra Dev Singh has resigned citing busyness.
After the resignation of Swatantra Dev Singh from the post of Leader in the Legislative Council, there has been speculation that now the party will assign the responsibility of a leader in the Rajya Sabha. However, no official information has been revealed about this yet. It is also reported that Keshav Prasad Maurya can be given the post of leader legislative council. This is being said because after resigning from the post of state president, Swatantra Dev Singh's stature has become smaller than Keshav Prasad Maurya's. In such a situation, On the basis of seniority, the post of Leader Legislative Council can be given to Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Swatantra Dev Singh had earlier resigned from the post of BJP's UP state unit president in late July. His term ended on July 16. He was appointed BJP state president in 2019. Under his presidency, the BJP won 255 seats in the 2022 assembly elections.
