IPL will begin on 7th April, where opening clash is between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Returning to the fore again will be the biggest motivation for the Chennai Super Kings after facing the 2-year suspension. They were the most successful team before the ban was enforced and are certainly one of the fan favorite sides.

Chennai Super Kings squad: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo. Karn Sharma, Shane Watson, Shardul Thakur, Ambati Rayudu, Murali Vijay, Harbhajan Singh, Faf Du Plessis, Mark Wood, Sam Billings, Imran Tahir, Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner, Lungisani Ngidi, Asif KM, N Jagadeesan, Kanishk Seth, Monu Singh, Dhruv Shorey, Kshitiz Sharma and Chaitanya Bishnoi.

Match Played: 132

Match won: 79

Match lost: 51

Captain: MS Dhoni

Strength:

The franchise managed to retain Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja for retention. In the bowling department- Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Harbhajan Singh and Mitchell Santner are capable of running through the batters.

Weakness:

Their disinterest in going for Ravichandran Ashwin shocked one and all. Mark Wood and Lungi Ngidi are the two overseas pacers in their side but both of them do not have much experience.

Opportunity:

South African pace bowler Lungi Ngidi too can make his case strong with a good outing in the IPL for the shorter format of the game. Ngidi surprised India in the test series played in South Africa.

Threat:

In Chennai Super Kings, most players are aged 32-35 which can hurt their fielding department.
